Want to be good at something? Specialize.
With more than 10 million minutes transcribed, Babbletype has been a trusted industry resource for more than 20 years.
We produce our work with real human beings, not software. With native speakers, not offshore subcontractors. We maintain enormous capacity and can turn transcription orders of any size in two days, and translation orders in three.
Don’t sell everything. Make what you sell.
Believe it or not, most firms that sell transcription and translation services don’t actually do those things.
They subcontract the whole thing out and tack on a nice fat margin. Want to know what’s actually going on? Have a special requirement? Good luck.
At Babbletype, everything we sell is something we actually do.
Nothing is subcontracted to other firms. If you want to know what’s going on, you’ve found the right place. Babbletype is owned by the same people who manage it from day to day. We don’t make promises we can’t keep, and go the extra mile to keep the ones we do make. We are accessible and responsive.
We help hundreds of research firms, large and small. We can help you.
Strive to be boring.
You have enough problems. Surprises from your transcription provider should not be one of them.
We are experts in content production, and strive for consistency, dependability and reliability above all else.
Consistent, no-surprise pricing. Dependable quality. Reliable turnaround. We answer the phone. We solve problems. We carry our side of your project, be it a small consumer study or a large multilingual pharma project, so you don’t have to worry about it.
Take all three.
Speed, quality and price — the usual rule is, you can have any two. With Babbletype, you can have all three. How? Process.
Our approach is to do a few things extremely well. We define products, and design processes to produce them — efficiently, consistently, and inexpensively.
Market researchers face a lot of pressures. They need reliable quality, in a couple of days, at a price their budgets can support. All of our products are designed with those needs in mind.
Incredibly inexpensive audio translation.
Traditional translation service providers will charge you $0.20 per word, on average. That works out to $25.00 per minute in your recording, or $1,500 after you’ve already had the work transcribed in the source language.
Babbletype charges $4.50, on average, per recorded minute to deliver English-language transcripts from just about any language our market research clients need. That’s $270 per audio hour.
Interview recordings in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish are delivered as English language transcripts in three days for $4.25 per audio minute in Word, $4.75 per audio minute for Excel or as focus groups. Other languages cost $5.25-$5.75 per audio minute and may take longer, depending on how rare a market we might be talking about.
You want content analyzed directly from the source language recording.
Whenever possible, avoid working with interpretations of interpretations of… you get the idea. Game of telephone, anybody? It may be tempting to hire audio to audio translation first, or simultaneous interpreters instead of translators. What’s lost in translation before the edited conversation arrives for transcribing can be significant. We’ve done studies where clients share both the source language recordings and the interpreted English recordings to us. We’ve found in many cases, large sections of completely missing content as well as dropped context, sarcasm, and literal errors in the interpretations themselves. Choose Babbletype to handle your original interview sessions from beginning to end in order to eliminate the telephone-game of content transfer.
How much is your time worth?
You need accurate, timely content to do credible research, but content is also the enemy. Interviews and focus groups generate vast amounts of content. Eight interviews are as long as a typical novel, and big, multi-market projects can generate more words than War and Peace. Babbletype offers a range of sophisticated content products designed to save you time.
Our PureResponse transcripts summarize the interviewer while leaving your respondents verbatim. PureResponse Master Transcripts consolidate all responses from all interviews into one document, below their associated question from your discussion guide.
PureAnswer Content Analyses take this dramatically further, boiling down all responses to brief, immediately-accessible summaries, which are then grouped and sorted by frequency of response. Relevant quotes are footnoted for immediate access. And last, PureResult Results Analyses convert your original question and all responses into simple statements of actual outcomes, ready for immediate use in high-value analysis and reporting.
These services are all about getting you to your report faster. How much faster? A 60-minute recording generates 9,000 words and takes 75 minutes to simply read through in depth. Then there’s coding, extraction, summarization and sorting. That’s a lot of expensive researcher time. Excluding quotes, the same data in PureAnswer is 500 words and takes four minutes to read.
Although the work we do is all about market research, our specialty is content. Ask for a copy of Content Analysis 101 and see what we mean.
